Press release -
New dates set for Elmia Lastbil
New dates for the exhibition Elmia Lastbil have now been set. The national and international venue for the haulage and transport industry will on display already on 2-5 June in 2021, at Elmia, Jönköping.
Elmia Lastbil have been arranged during August during a long period of time. Due to Covid-19 (Corona) and the postponement of the fair, the need for business interaction, display of industry news and the need to meet again, is now even greater than before.
- Elmia Lastbil is a very important arena for many of the members within Lastfordonsgruppen. We therefore find it very positive that Elmia Lastbil is held June 2-5 2021, in Jönköping, says Carina Jakobsson, CEO Translink and chairman of Lastfordonsgruppen (LFG), which gathers Sweden’s leading professional trailer and body builders.
There has been a great shortage of drivers in the haulage industry for many years and already in 2017, Transportfackens Yrkes- och Arbetsmiljönämnd (TYA) alerted about an estimated deficite of approximately 50,000 drivers up until 2027. The shortage of drivers may accelerate as industry and trade increase again in after the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition to this, technicians and mechanics are also lacking in the automotive industry. A close dialogue with vocational schools has therefore been of important guidance in the choice of new dates for Elmia Lastbil.
- Scania Sweden is very positive about Elmia Lastbil’s new dates for the tradeshow. This gives us an opportunity to meet the students, at the end of their education, to introduce ourselves. It also creates a wonderful beginning of the summer meeting with customers and trade enthusiasts before the summer holidays. We will have several interesting news to present then, claims Jennifer Erdtman, Marketing and Communications Manager at Scania Sweden.
- The new dates for Elmia Lastbil have been chosen carefully, in dialogue with our business partners, leading suppliers, trailer and bodybuilding industry as well as the schools. We want to place extra attention on our students, who are approaching work life. There are great opportunities for them to work in this industry, which is extremely important for our entire society, concludes Annika Brandin, Business Manager for Elmia Lastbil.
