Press release -

Registration opens for international competitions with Icelandic horses

Following last year’s world premiere for indoor competitions for Icelandic horses, Elmia Icelandic Power Show has received World Ranking status. This year the program will feature even more clinics and shows and the competitions are expected to attract even greater international participation than last year. The registration for the contests opens on Thursday 15th February 2018.

– After the world premiere last year, a great deal of interest has been shown towards this fantastic horse event at Elmia. This year we expect more participants from our neighboring countries to enter the competition and experience all parts of the event, says Jennie Filipsson Eriksson, Co-organizer for Elmia Icelandic Power Show.

The competitions are judged by five FEIF-judges from Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Germany. The prize totals will be the highest for any official competition for Icelandic horses in Sweden. A total winning pot of SEK 35,000 will be awarded to the three best riders in each event.

This year the event offers world class competitions with a focus on the four A-class events.

– The changes in the competition class selection will make it possible to hold more clinics, a request made specifically by last year’s audience, says Rebecca Benje, Competition organizer for Elmia Icelandic Power Show.

Elmia Icelandic Power Show is held simultaneously with the Elmia Scandinavian Horse Show in a unique concept with three disciplines in equestrian sports under one roof. Last year the event attracted over 17 000 visitors to Elmia in Jönköping.

– We continue the development of last year’s success and are working on creating a world class equestrian event with a fair, shows, clinics and competitions, Carolina Axelsson, Project Manager for Elmia Icelandic Power Show concludes.
