Elmia Lastbil offered world premieres and a festive atmosphere
Elmia Lastbil in Jönköping, Sweden was one big party for the visiting public in sunny late-summer weather. The trade fair began with great success as Scania presented the world premiere of its new generation of trucks.
“It was wonderful that Scania chose Elmia for the premiere of its new truck,” comments Annika Brandin, Business Manager of Elmia Lastbil. “It just proves the fair’s strength and impact on the market. As that wasn’t enough, we also had Boije Ovebrink’s ‘The Iron Knight’ with us at Volvo’s stand. It’s the world’s fastest truck that can top 276 km/h. This fair is truly important to the whole industry.”
Elmia Lastbil has continually expanded since it was founded in 1983 and Scania chose this year’s fair for the world premiere of its new generation of trucks. The debut was an amazing success, meeting the very high expectations for the new truck series.
“Here we have the warmth and closeness to our customers. This is where we meet the people who actually drive our trucks. It’s tremendous,” enthused the communications manager for Scania’s Swedish operation, Peter Kaméus.
In all, 415 exhibitors were present for the four-day event. The total exhibition area exceeded 75,000 square metres, significantly greater than for the previous fair. As well as all the exhibitors’ new products and solutions, Elmia Lastbil, together with its partners Trailer and Svensk Åkeritidning, also offered a comprehensive programme of debates and discussions, seminars, school competitions, the Swedish championship in precision truck driving and crane operating, and of course the big favourite among the public, the Nordic Trophy.
“This year’s fair really hit the bull’s eye with both the exhibitors and the visitors,” Annika Brandin concludes. “It’s very clear that this industry interests many people and is on the upswing. Elmia Lastbil is the fair for everyone who’s interested in trucks and the haulage industry at any level, big or small.”
